Ambassadors

So the cherubim lifted up their wings, with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel was high above them. And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain, which is on the east side of the city. Then the Spirit took me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to those in captivity. And the vision that I had seen went up from me. So I spoke to those in captivity of all the things the LORD had shown me. Ezekiel 11:22-25 (NKJV)

Paul said we are to follow the true way, the examples we have had set before us. We are his ambassadors, those sent out to a foreign country to represent to will of our king. We are only sent with the authority we have from being close to our king. Being sent out into the world, we are called back to once more sit with the King. Our wills and ways are to be conformed in his.

We see that Ezekiel was sent out with a message. He was carried by heavenly creatures that had also showed him the message. While we may not encounter such experience at this point in our life, we still have a commissioning to go forth. We, like Paul, are sent forth to those who are in captivity.

Under Jesus authority we are to go forth and make disciples. We are to teach them what we’ve been taught. In order that we don’t misrepresent our king, we too should be teachable, always learning of him. We need not worry, because he tells us he is always with us as we go forth.

We are told to preach the gospel; to share the good news of Jesus. Scripture says that he who does not believe is condemned. Do we believe Jesus enough to share the good news of his coming? Are there signs of our belief following us, or are we awaiting the signs and wonders to lead us? We can lay hands on the sick. We do not heal them, but faith combined with obedience will allow them to recover. It’s God’s job to do the healing-work. We, as ambassadors just do as we are instructed.

As believers, we move forward throughout our world, the gospel will be shared. Combined with the acting upon what we are told in faith we can be like Ezekiel and follow the leading of the spirit. That is one way his glory can be found throughout the whole world.
