the heavenly armory

For although we are walking in the flesh, we do not wage war in a fleshly way, since the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. And we are ready to punish any disobedience, once your obedience is complete. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (HCSB)
We’ve all read and heard about spiritual weapons. We have some realization they are not weapons, as we would normally define weapons. We seem to know what the spiritual weapons are not, better than we can define what they are.

I was recently re-awakened to perception of spiritual weapons. In a vision I was taken into the heavens. I found myself in front of a building with a very large doorway. There was an angel at the doorway. When he saw me looking inside, he asked if I knew what the building was. “No,” I answered shaking my head. I was told it was the heavenly armory. I was puzzled by the answer.

“Would you like to come in?” he asked. I answered yes, and was escorted inside. Everywhere I looked I could see weapons. There were weapons I recognized lining the walls, on ledges and cupboards. As I walked every placed I looked I saw weapons. The further I walked the longer the room seemed to grow, and ye, there were more weapons.

I saw natural weapons from ages past, present and future. I soon came upon a new section of weapons, except these weapons were of a percussion type. There were many sizes and shapes of drums. They were intermixed with string instruments of all varieties. I had never seen such a wide selection of those that seemed familiar, as well as types I’d never seen.

It seemed the further I’d walk, the more weapons I saw. I never fully traversed the length of the room. It was ever expanding. The next thing I new, I was back to my natural, human reality.

This past weekend I got a taste of what weapons in the armory can do. I found myself purchasing an amber coloured squirt-gun at a junk-shop in Florida, next to the conference we were attending. I knew I should have known better, but I bought the gun.

Now, as you no, an unloaded weapon holds no sway. My weapons found water and I found myself at first interrupting the session as it was about to begin, but soon directing people to the floor as the spiritual weapon shot forth refreshment.

This unusual weapon began to wash away distractions. It released a new freedom for that time. As the spiritual ammunition found its mark, many found themselves released. Several were released to the floor where the Holy Spirit did a real work.

God found His way to what he wanted us to do doing, crying out and seeking Him. Scripture reminds us, “by the message of truth, by the power of God; through weapons of righteousness on the right hand and the left”, 2 Corinthians 6:7 (HCSB) we can achieve his goals. We can accomplish the work of the kingdom.

Relaxed in Him and by Him we can offer ourselves as weapons of righteousness. Walking in love we can take hold of the weapons that belong to the light. We can release freedom and healing. We called to release truth and bring back to earth that which has been stolen.
