observations

Ever come to a cross road in your life and want for direction? Consider what has been written in the Bible and making some application. Here are some simple observations I have made from three brothers in the verses below.

We should face the son.
Praise (Judah) should always go first.
We should be tempered with (Issachar) an understanding of the times and what to do.
We should have God at the center of our dwelling and habitation (Zebulun).
We should not be alone, but camp and work with those of like company.
We can expect God to speak to us.
We should be a safe place for others to come.
We can expect to be numbered as his people.
We can expect blessings as his people.

The Lord spoke to Moses and to Aaron: “Every one of the Israelites must camp under his standard with the emblems of his family; they must camp at some distance around the tent of meeting.

The Tribes on the East
“Now those who will be camping on the east, toward the sunrise, are the divisions of the camp of Judah under their standard. The leader of the people of Judah is Nahshon son of Amminadab. Those numbered in his division are 74,600. Those who will be camping next to them are the tribe of Issachar. The leader of the people of Issachar is Nethanel son of Zuar. Those numbered in his division are 54,400. Next will be the tribe of Zebulun. The leader of the people of Zebulun is Eliab son of Helon. Those numbered in his division are 57,400. All those numbered of the camp of Judah, according to their divisions, are 186,400. They will travel at the front. Numbers 2:3-9 (NET)

The prophetic words of the grandfather Jacob
"Judah, your brothers will praise you; your hand will be on the neck of your enemies; your father's sons will bow down to you. You are a lion's cub, O Judah; you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness--who dares to rouse him? The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his. He will tether his donkey to a vine, his colt to the choicest branch; he will wash his garments in wine, his robes in the blood of grapes. His eyes will be darker than wine, his teeth whiter than milk.
"Zebulun will live by the seashore and become a haven for ships; his border will extend toward Sidon.
"Issachar is a rawboned donkey lying down between two saddlebags. When he sees how good is his resting place and how pleasant is his land, he will bend his shoulder to the burden and submit to forced labor. Genesis 49:8-15 (NIV)

The blessings of Moses
And this is the blessing to Judah. He said, Listen, O Lord, to Judah’s voice, and bring him to his people. May his power be great, and may you help him against his foes. Deuteronomy 33:7 (NET)

Of Zebulun he said: Rejoice, Zebulun, when you go outside, and Issachar, when you are in your tents. They will summon peoples to the mountain, there they will sacrifice proper sacrifices; for they will enjoy the abundance of the seas, and the hidden treasures of the shores. Deuteronomy 33:18-19 (NET)
