the sound of the bell

I was walking the dog this morning at one of our usual locations. We were
not there long when the sound of a bell was heard. It was not a loud,
alarm-type of sound, but more of an encouraging sound. As we walked, it
continued intermittently for 15 minutes or so. As expected, I never did find
the source.

It did though cause me to think of scripture and of a time from my past.
During the Christmas season of 1998 I was in a prayer room at church,
praying through one of our Sunday morning service.  As I was getting
up from the floor, I noticed something directly in front of my face.  It was
a small bell, of the ornamental/decoration type.  I kept that gift-bell with
me for a decade, until one morning, it disappeared as simply, as it had
initially had appeared for me.

It took quite a while for me to get over that. At first, I felt as if it had
been removed from me, as a punishment or for a failure.  That false
notion subsided. This morning’s bell brought back that “calling” to my
spirit. It was an encouragement to me. That part of me is surrounded by the
blue, purple and scarlet yarn. I am cleansed by His blood, enclosed by His
revelation authority. I wear the purple robe of sonship.

I am His and empowered by Him.

On that day the bells of the horses will bear the inscription "Holy to the
Lord." The cooking pots in the LORD's temple will be as holy as the bowls in
front of the altar.  Zechariah 14:20 (NET)

Make pomegranates of blue, purple and scarlet yarn around the hem of the
robe, with gold bells between them. Exodus 28:33 (NIV)
