Where are you found running?

How are you when trouble comes? We react in many ways. Sometimes we try to avoid it. At other times we may even act as if it’s not there thinking it will leave on its own accord. We may even want to hide or retreat.

What is God’s stance on the matter when trouble shows itself? Have you ever considered it an opportunity for advancement? Let’s take these few verse about David, as a youngster as he was delivering food to his brothers in the army of Saul.

The Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field. Then said David to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the ranks of Israel, Whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will smite you and cut off your head. And I will give the corpses of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands. When the Philistine came forward to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. 1 Samuel 17:44-48 (AMP).

David was ready for action, not for his own sake, but for the name of God. Like David, God prepares you for the giants that you will encounter in your life, so you will be ready to cut off their head.

We can not fight if we are not prepared or are armed in armament that is not ours. We can not rely upon the promises, anointing or gifting of those around us, but only upon what God supplies us. As we walk in the truth God releases all the provision we need for each encounter.

David relied upon God out of their unfolding relationship. He had seen God’s protection in his life and came to realize that he is an unchanging God. David had no unrighteous fear. He did not allow the taunting words of an enemy to intimidate him. The prophetic words of the enemy are lies. We must recognize they are not God’s ways or intentions. We have the whole truth.

So when the enemy comes, where will you be found running? God will provide the protective shelter for those who righteously move forth. Walk in the truth and destroy the enemy.
