Lessons from Judges Chapter 13

A few lessons for the soon-coming times of increased supernatural activity from Judges 13. We can deduce that the number 13 is not always a bad number. Again the people of Israel did what the Lord said was wrong. So he handed them over to the Philistines for forty years. (Judges 13:1) We can not expect God to overlook our overt sin, yet He will never forsake us. He is will test us so we might learn, repent and turn back to him. There was a man named Manoah from the tribe of Dan, who lived in the city of Zorah. He had a wife, but she could not have children. The angel of the Lord appeared to Manoah's wife and said, "You have not been able to have children… (Judges 13:2-3a) God is watching. We can expect unexpected supernatural intervention. God himself will show up when things are naturally hopeless. The miraculous intervention will be shown to the nameless and unknown. …but you will become pregnant and give birth to a son. (Judges 13:3b) God has great expectations and will gr...

Are you ready?

Even though it is the spring of a new year, I sense far too many of God’s people are feeling dead or far less than complete. Plans or dreams you once had have seemed to fade into the past. You may even be feeling blasé in your spiritual relationships. You are bothered with what may be described as spiritual barrenness. God asks, “Are you ready? You need to have a sense of expectancy.” I hear you replying, “Ready for what?” Are you ready for what God has planned for you? Are you prepared for the great work about to be set before you? Examine the barrenness you have been carrying around. Have you considered it may be apart of God’s plan. God is preparing his people. He asks if you are ready. He reminds us that we must be expectant if we are to deliver what he has set for us. Barrenness is not new. In fact it is a frequent topic within the Bible. Consider the biblical characters that were besieged with physical and spiritual barrenness. At the point of their description they were desperat...

At all times

At all times and all places I am with my children. I am with you now as you read this. Take time to sense my presence. Listen for me. Learn my cues. Find me in your dreams. I am there. Talk with me at night, before sleep and find if I will not answer you. I have much to be done from those who are willing. If you are willing, ask and learn from the training and expectation. You must expect to find me. Have an eager expectation in all your ways. My Spirit is present. Talk with Him. That which you willingly give away, I can multiply for you. Learn from the example my son gave. I am in the flashing lights. Expect to find me. That which you feed grows. Examine your ways, so that there can be more of me. Find me each day. Every morning call out to me. Return to me each night in sleep, that I may pour forth my ways into you. Reach past what you think you know. Learn to experience in. Loose my ways on earth. Bind my spirit to your life. Find me in all things. In all ways I wish that you may pr...

I am the LORD

For I am the LORD, the one who send true peace. I am the one who comforts. I listen to your prayers And smile as you sing to me. I am the LORD creator. I desire to meet with you. Let no fear come into your life. Speak forth when you feel me, for I will speak forth my ways. I will shatter the bonds of darkness. I destroy the chains of addiction. I am the LORD. Return to me. There is no shame. I break off condemnation.

Look for me

Look for me in all you do, seek me first. Look for me and what I am doing. Allow me to open your spiritual eyes. In all that you do listen for my voice. I am directing all who ask. Though it may seem dark, fear not. I am the light. Allow the darkness of your fear to be cast aside. I am the way you are searching for. I am the way of life. Drink of the wine I have to offer. I have taken back the keys of death. Look for me. I am the light of the resurrection. Seek me in all that you do.

How many loaves?

When Jesus asks a question it’s not that he doesn’t already know the answer. It’s more likely that he wants us to hear our own answer. In Mark 6:30-44 we read of a familiar story. Here Jesus has fed 5,000 men with the word of God, and next fills them with physical food. They are satisfied with eating from five loaves of bread and two fish. Now a few chapters later Jesus is again teaching the multitude when he asks a simple question. Jesus asked, " How many loaves of bread do you have?" Mark 8:5a (NCV). There are now at least four thousand men gathered and Jesus queries his followers. What do you suppose he was asking them? As you read the story for yourself, what might you suppose he is asking you? How many loaves of bread do you have? Are you willing to share, so that he may bring forth a miracle? He’s willing to multiply what ever is needed. Perhaps too there will be more left after feeding the hungry than there was before you offered what you have. " I feel sorry fo...

Set free

We are set free by the Passover Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at the table. Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. John 12:1-3 (ESV) The New Beginning There was to be a change; a new way of thinking. As a reminder God had them rearrange their calendar. This was to be the new beginning of the Hebrew year (Exodus 12:1-2). He wanted them to realize the significance of what He was about to do. These festivals shall be a reminder of you before your God: I am the Lord your God. The silver announcing trumpets are to be blown. (Numbers 10:10) He wished them not to forget it, but to continually bring it to their minds. We too have been born again. God does no...

Grow in Me

Grow in me. My deposit is placed within you. You are my seed and have my seed. Allow my ways to come forth. Don’t react to the world. But respond to my presence and leading. I will show you the way you should move forth. Stretch forth my hand in power and love. My light casts out darkness and illuminates all things. Examine your ways. Are you defensive or relying upon self? Take more of me. Spend time in my presence, So I may move for you. It is the time to get out. Walk forth; remove the bondages and hindrances of fear that grip you. My way is love. In me there is no fear. Speak my word that they may hear, that you may hear and be set free. I am truth. Grow in me that I might grow more in you.

a new army

This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.' Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV) Follow me. I am leading those who will to follow. Wear my righteousness My path may seen unfamiliar, But you will recognize me. Follow the signs of my love. My righteousness shines as a light. I am leading you to a point of decision. Follow the way that is right. My cross points the way. My blood has provided what is necessary. Seek me, that I might show you more. There is a coming convergence; Yet I am leading out a new army, One clothed in righteousness. My word protects those who take it in. I will shield those who come to me. Lose yourself in me. The decision is yours to come.

a new turbulance

I’m about to bring forth a new turbulence. My wind is about to spring forth. It will blow. Do not resist or you will break. My turbulence breaks the old ways. I bring cleansing and refreshing. In my way is life. Take the liberty; ride my ways. I am creating a new turbulence. I am stirring many waters. The chaff is being blown away. It will not mingle with my seed. My word is holy and brings life. Step into my turbulence and be blown away. My spirit blows where I direct. It is coming to you. Be prepared.

Stop trying

Stop trying to blend in. I have created you unique. Do not hide what I see as value. You are my expression. Each portion of you has purpose and plan. I have those who need me that you are able to touch. You are my covenant. You are the train, north-bound and south-bound. I am the cargo you carry. Blend into my ways that I might colour the world with a new palette. Be tenderly hidden in me.

Getting close

Getting close to me requires much; You must learn to release yourself. You must allow me to show you love. It is unconditional. Like an earthly parent, I am proud of you. I see what you are becoming. Though you fall, there is no weakness. Relax and allow me to enjoy showing you my ways. Stop the self-expectation. I have much-more for you. Sit with me, closing your eyes, imagining what I see. My strength abides when you are weak. My ways of breaking are tender for my children. Allow me into your every thought.

Adam

Adam He stood on the edge of eternity. Slow breezes watered his mind. The sky went on forever. He talked with the birds. They ate of his hand. He fed them his eyes. They made love to him as he drank the solitude of shade. First man again you come. Eternity was to your back. The birds nest in the fragrance of your hair, unaware that you are gone and here at the same time.

let us return to the Lord

I find I am often more open with God when I am busy, such as mowing the yard or even walking. Such it was this evening as I was walking the dogs. I asked him that he would show himself to me, in whatever manner he would chose, and not necessarily in the ways I expect him. Later this same evening I heard him clearly speak a word to me. He said, “It is in the failures, not the successes that you are measured.” When I sat thinking on what I had heard, this verse came to mind. Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has torn [us], and He will heal us; He has wounded [us], and He will bind up our wounds. Hosea 6:1 (HCSB) What an attitude to have, knowing that while we may receive punishment, we expect healing too. Our father cares for us as individuals. We see that the writer of Hebrews was aware of the concept in quoting from Proverbs 3:11-12 he writes, And you have forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons: My son, do not take the Lord’s discipline lightly, or faint when you ar...

Do not be discouraged

Do not be discouraged. I am with you. Yes, I am working within you, despite what you don’t see or sense. I am with you. Drink-in the water I offer. Apply the balm of my peace to your restlessness. My words bring encouragement. Let them soak into your life. My ways bring wholeness, for now and in the time yet to be revealed. I am active within your life. Rest in me and do not allow discouragement to affect you. My love for you is ever-growing. It reveals itself as you allow me to work. Replace what you don’t see with my assurance. My words will come to pass. They never fail. There is nothing I have shown you that I will not perform. Let the water of my living word refresh you.

the bread of life

I am the bread of life. Take of my body. My body was beaten for you. I was broken in order to bring life. Gather into me. Receive that which you need. Gather from me what is needed for each day. Partake of me: Learn of my patience, Receive new vision from the Father, I give to you compassion. You must partake of me. No one can gather for you. My manna is new each day. It is available to those of seek. My body was broken for you. Eat fully of my ways. I am a reflection of the Father. We are one. Eat the bread, my life. Eat my bread. Eat fully. I am the manna in the wilderness. I am the bread of life.

My Voice

My voice calls. My voice is clear and never wavers. I call out to all my creation. Come near to me. My voice is for those who would hear. Hear my voice. Hear my voice and prosper. Grow in me. I hear my children. Many call my name and Wonder why I do not answer. You cry out to me in this time of trouble And yes, I do hear you and I have Not removed myself. It is a time to come closer. Come to me. Do not move away in fear or shame of failure. I hear your cries And await for you. Seek me now. Respond to my word that your heart not be shielded, but be yielded to me. My voice still calls. I offer direction for growth. I offer wholeness through my son.

Ambassadors

So the cherubim lifted up their wings, with the wheels beside them, and the glory of the God of Israel was high above them. And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain, which is on the east side of the city. Then the Spirit took me up and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to those in captivity. And the vision that I had seen went up from me. So I spoke to those in captivity of all the things the LORD had shown me. Ezekiel 11:22-25 (NKJV) Paul said we are to follow the true way, the examples we have had set before us. We are his ambassadors, those sent out to a foreign country to represent to will of our king. We are only sent with the authority we have from being close to our king. Being sent out into the world, we are called back to once more sit with the King. Our wills and ways are to be conformed in his. We see that Ezekiel was sent out with a message. He was carried by heavenly creatures that had also showed him t...

Gather Yourselves

Look for me and you will find me. Seek me, so I might expand my ways into your existence. Do not fear the gathering clouds, nor be afraid of the mighty claps of thunder. I am in the coming storms. Look for my face, So I might be found. My ways are to express who I am And what I wish to be doing. Gather yourselves and recognize me. My spirit moves about as the wind. It flows across the face of the earth Combing out that which is past, dried and dead, to make room for new growth. Look for me each morning. Arise early. Invite me into your day. Allow me to encourage you. My ways become recognizable to those who seek me. Know me and fear is cast away. I am love. My spirits search for those I can show myself. Do not become distressed by what you see. My judgments are to bring others into my kingdom. I reign over all. Do not be surprised when the severe storms approach. Stay safe and flourish. Beneath my wings is safety. Gather yourselves unto me.

in me

Do not let the past or your future hold you; But sit secure in me. Let go. Release your grip from the things you hold. Embrace my expectations. Find the fulfillment I have for you.
