Memorial Day 2006

"And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of compassion and supplication, so that, when they look on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a first-born. Zechariah 12:10 (RSV)

Intercessors arise. It is time to lift forth the ways and promises of our father. Let your words pour forth. Let the supplications of you hearts reach into the heavenly courts.

It is time for a new outpouring. Let it begin in our hearts and pour forth wherever we walk. Let there be a new full release of Pentecost; a sweeping of the Holy Spirit across the face of an expectant earth.

For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God; for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope; Romans 8:19-20 (RSV)

Like the earth calling forth, let us who know Jesus face, also call forth for the ways of God. It is time to call forth hope and to speak words of redemption. Let us build a memorial that others can look to know we serve a God of caring.

We were not placed here by chance. God’s plan is for us to reveal his son. Let us be found praying for the things God finds important. We can pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). We can pray that God teaches our children and that they learn of his true peace (Isaiah 54:13). We can pray for the peace of God, that hearts and minds be guarded through Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We can pray for unity of the body, that peace rule our every motive (Colossians 3:15).

This is a time of reflection. Yes, this Memorial Day week-end, we can look back with assurance and realize many blessings. There have been sacrifices of others that we might have liberty and freedom. God has blessed us and God wishes to continually bless us. We are to prosper and bless others.

May the face of our Father shine upon you and, the Holy Spirit of the living God guide and guard you. Be continually to the Son. May you learn to walk in increasing freedom through relationship with the Son.
