mine that bird

When the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, she met with his approval. The king extended to Esther the gold scepter that was in his hand, and Esther approached and touched the end of the scepter. Esther 5:2 (NET)

I'm not one for watching horses races, but felt lead to pay attention to this year's Kentucky Derby.  I heard the Father say he would speak to us through the race. I was not quite sure what to expect. It was a muddy track, but the race still was exciting with a far away winner and a three horses nose to nose to determine the place and show.

Here are a few things which spoke to me. The race date itself was 5 to 09 (5/2/09). If we persist he will lead us from grace to fruitfulness. We will end with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. The winner was an unexpected long shot. Mine That Bird paid large dividends to those who made the choice. Given the right race we too can wear the number 8. It is truly a time of new beginnings.

While we may never run for the roses at Church Hills Downs, we are to run the race. We are to move forward in our lives in the faith given to each of us. We may seem insignificant, but there is a promise. We have received the approval of our king and we can confidently walk in the beginnings of a new day.

As for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, seemingly insignificant among the clans of Judah - from you a king will emerge who will rule over Israel on my behalf, one whose origins are in the distant past. Micah 5:2 (NET)
