where is your rain?
Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King
Ahab, “As surely as the Lord,
the God of Israel, lives—the God I serve—there will be no
dew or rain during
the next few years until I give the word! 1 Kings 17:1 (NLT)
Waiting. It is not a word we appreciate. It is
often associated with the unknown.
We generally do not appreciate spending time in a waiting
room, or be told we needed
to wait to talk with someone. We wish to see results now
and not await an outcome.
Do we approach God in the same manner??
Consider the Bible story with Elijah and King Ahab. They
had a contentious relationship.
It produced stress on those around them. God had Elijah declare
a drought. Years of
drought was the forecast.
We jump ahead and we see a coming change, but only in
terms of the weather forecast.
We are yet awaiting for "rain" of God to appear.
We are dry naturally and spiritually.
How are we handling what is before us? We are waiting for
GOD.....
Later on, in the third year of the drought, the Lord said
to Elijah, “Go and present yourself to King Ahab. Tell him that I will soon send rain!” So Elijah went to
appear before Ahab. Meanwhile, the famine had become very severe
in Samaria.” 1 Kings 18:1-2 (NLT)
At last, the prophet tells the King, about the "soon
rain". But where is it? We are dry. Where are the
promises we received. Are we holding onto them or have we
perceived the words as wrong.
Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and
drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming
1 Kings 18:41 (NLT)
Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the
sea.” The servant went and looked,
then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see
anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look.
Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a
little cloud about the size of a man’s hand
rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell
him, ‘Climb into your chariot and
go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop
you!’ 1 Kings 18:43-44 (NLT)
You may yet be waiting for the end of your drought; that
drink of His rain which sustains you.
Seven times the prophet looked for God's answer. We know
the answer, wait for his rain to water
Your needs and bring refreshing.
